Frontend development of a website for a movie studio
Background
For EXVOLI, a sustainable film studio launching in 2024, I helped develop parts of the website frontend. The studio’s identity centers around ecological responsibility, so the site was built to reflect that — clean, lightweight, and minimal.
Technologies & Tools
- Handlebars (Templating)
- Express.js (Backend)
- TailwindCSS
- Motion (Animation)
- Strapi (Headless CMS)
- Vanilla JavaScript
Features
- Clean, static site architecture with CMS integration
- Bold, type-forward visual design
- Organic micro-animations using Motion
- Accessible layout and semantic HTML
Challenges
The biggest technical challenge was building a high-quality experience using a minimal stack. We deliberately avoided large frontend frameworks and instead chose a combination of Handlebars and Express – lightweight, fast, and maintainable.
Learnings
- You don’t always need a big framework to build a great website
- Simplicity in stack and design can lead to better maintainability

This project was a great reminder that clarity and simplicity — in both design and code — often lead to the most elegant results.
